The term "left hand path" actually originates in Hinduism. This term was initially meant as an insult as left handed people were believed to be morally and intellectually inferior to right handed people. The path originated when tantric yoga emerged. Tantric yoga was considered blasphemous to Hindus, because it emphasized self empowerment over servitude and worship to deities and because it employed sex into magickal systems.
